AARDE was developed through an ongoing collaboration with B the Source - a furniture and objects studio working across Java and Bali.
The collection is assembled slowly: through texture, proportion, atmosphere, and the relationship objects create within a space.
Working between places
Stephen Lasker has spent more than three decades working across furniture, interiors, and hospitality projects between the United States and Southeast Asia.
Before establishing B the Source, he led Edge Design Intelligence in Miami, developing interior systems for residential and hospitality environments.
Through B the Source, he works closely with workshops across Java and Bali, developing collections shaped by regional materials, small-scale production, and longstanding craft traditions.
AARDE brings this collection into conversation with contemporary Southern African interiors.
Based in South Africa, AARDE works with designers, architects, and private clients to place the collection within contemporary residential and hospitality spaces.
The project is shaped through an ongoing dialogue between interiors, objects, and lived environments - informed by years spent around art, design, and spatial practice.
Rather than approaching furniture as standalone pieces, AARDE focuses on atmosphere, material balance, and the quieter relationship between objects and the spaces they inhabit.
